SUMMARY OF FUNCTION
Assists in all groundskeeping activities assigned, to include landscaping, lawn and plant care, pest control, greenhouse production, flowerbed maintenance, and related functions.
ORGANIZATIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrates sound business ethics including, but not limited to those outlined by Leadership and Service, strategic plan, policies and regulations. Maintains confidentiality where appropriate.
- Assures and monitors compliance with all internal and external agencies to include all functions that attain and maintain accreditation and compliance with regulatory agencies.

- Participates in appropriate professional development programs to attain and maintain competency. This competency will include the appropriate provision of services for the age-specific population served. Requires childcare training in compliance with state regulations.

- Reports (and if possible, provides intervention for) incidents of abuse or potential abuse involving residents to the appropriate supervisor.
- Performs work in a safe manner at all times. Maintains an organized and safe work area. Considers the safety of others at all times, and reports unsafe conditions.
- Promotes the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process by identifying quality indicators and opportunities for departmental and organizational process improvement.
- Within departmental parameters, exhibits customer service, decision-making and problem-solving skills to include establishing and maintaining liaison with external vendors and within the organization.
- Generates reports, correspondence and other documentation as assigned.
- Attends and participates in administrative/staff/committee meetings as assigned.

JOB-SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties:
- Exhibits regular and punctual attendance.
- Assists in landscaping activities as assigned.
- Assists with farm and ranch activities as assigned.
- Assists in lawn and plant care activities as assigned.
- Assists with pest control activities as assigned.
- Assists in providing training and direction for residents participating in horticulture activities, to include safety training.
- Assists in maintaining equipment and shop area as assigned.
- Maintains Greenhouse and planting activities.
- Maintains all flowerbeds on campus activity buildings.
- Scouting of insects, weeds, diseases and deficiencies of flowers and plants.
- Assists in provision of education concerning care of flowers and plants.
- Exhibits appropriate interaction with residents.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma or GED equivalency is required.
- Proficiency in general horticulture equipment operation is required.
- Must possess exceptional time management and detail-oriented skills.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license.
- Bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing/pulling, prolonged sitting/standing
- Must be available for travel as needed.
