Position Summary
Motivera Search Group is recruiting an experienced and results-driven Earthwork Superintendent to oversee and manage all aspects of site preparation, earthwork, excavation, grading, and utility installation activities on heavy civil and commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive field experience, and a proven ability to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
The Earthwork Superintendent will be responsible for coordinating crews, subcontractors, equipment, and materials while ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise all field operations related to excavation, grading, site development, and earthmoving activities.
- Manage daily construction activities to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
- Coordinate and supervise field personnel, subcontractors, and equipment operators.
- Interpret construction drawings, site plans, specifications, and project schedules.
- Plan and monitor production goals, resource allocation, and manpower needs.
- Conduct daily jobsite inspections to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to project specifications.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and environmental requirements.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Surveyors, Inspectors, and Owners’ representatives.
- Monitor equipment utilization and coordinate maintenance requirements.
- Identify and resolve field issues, conflicts, and project risks proactively.
- Track production quantities and report progress to project management.
- Participate in project meetings and provide regular status updates.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, safety logs, and production records.
- Implement corrective actions when productivity, quality, or safety standards are not being met.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; construction management or related education preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Superintendent, Foreman, or similar leadership role in dirtwork, earthwork, or heavy civil construction.
- Strong knowledge of excavation, grading, drainage systems, utility installation, and site development practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, grading plans, and construction specifications.
- Experience managing large crews and multiple subcontractors simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of earthmoving equipment, including dozers, excavators, motor graders, scrapers, compactors, and loaders.
- Knowledge of GPS machine control and grading technology preferred.
- Proficient in project scheduling and production tracking.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel or relocate based on project requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Experience with heavy civil, roadway, commercial site development, or industrial projects.
- Knowledge of erosion control, stormwater management, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Experience using construction management software such as Procore, HCSS, or similar platforms.

Physical Requirements

Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $90,000 – $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, project complexity, and demonstrated performance.
