Paving Superintendent

Position Summary

Motivera Search Group is seeking an experienced Paving Superintendent to oversee daily field operations for asphalt paving projects across municipal, commercial, and heavy civil environments. This leader will manage crews, coordinate equipment and materials, ensure quality control, and maintain a strong safety culture on every job site.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on superintendent who thrives in the field, communicates clearly, and consistently delivers high?quality paving work that meets project specifications and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise paving crews, operators, laborers, and subcontractors

• Coordinate daily jobsite activities including equipment, trucking, materials, and scheduling

• Ensure all work meets project specifications, DOT standards, and quality requirements

• Monitor production rates, compaction, temperatures, and overall paving performance

• Conduct pre?pave meetings and daily safety briefings

• Work closely with Project Managers, QC technicians, inspectors, and clients

• Maintain accurate documentation including timesheets, delivery tickets, and daily reports

• Identify and resolve field challenges quickly to keep projects on schedule

• Enforce all safety protocols and promote a culture of accountability

• Oversee milling, grading, and base preparation activities when required

• Ensure proper equipment maintenance and readiness

Qualifications

Experience & Technical Skills

• 5+ years of experience in asphalt paving, road construction, or heavy civil work

• 2+ years in a superintendent or crew leadership role

• Strong understanding of paving operations, compaction, mix design, and equipment

• Ability to read civil plans, paving layouts, and project specifications

• Experience coordinating trucking, asphalt plants, and field logistics

• Proficiency with daily reporting tools and basic project documentation

Leadership & Communication

• Proven ability to lead crews with clarity, consistency, and professionalism

• Strong problem?solving skills and situational awareness in fast?moving field environments

• Ability to communicate effectively with inspectors, engineers, and project stakeholders

• High level of organization, follow?through, and accountability

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Frequent travel to job sites across West Texas

• Ability to walk uneven terrain, stand for extended periods, and work outdoors in varying weather

• Exposure to active construction environments, heavy equipment, and asphalt operations
