Woodworking & Fabrication Instructor

Summary of Function

Motivera Search Group is seeking a Woodworking & Fabrication Instructor to support a partner organization’s hands on learning, industrial design, and community-based project initiatives. This role blends technical craftsmanship, youth instruction, workshop management, and collaborative project leadership. The instructor will guide students through woodworking, fabrication, and creative problem solving while maintaining a safe, organized, and well-equipped shop environment.

Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities Essential Duties

  • Develop and lead woodworking and fabrication projects, providing hands on instruction, training, and motivation for youth participants.
  • Manage workshop operations, including maintenance of computers, woodworking tools, metal forming equipment, and other fabrication resources.
  • Conduct research and prepare recommendations for purchasing tools, materials, and supplies.
  • Apply scientific and design thinking processes to project planning and problem solving.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to include students in creative industrial design and fabrication projects.
  • Teach or co-teach courses in partnership with educational staff, ensuring alignment with curriculum needs.
  • Assist in coordinating special events and community activities as assigned.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

  • Maintain a safe, organized work environment and report unsafe conditions.
  • Support continuous quality improvement by identifying opportunities for process enhancement.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service, decision making, and problem-solving skills, including communication with vendors and internal teams.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and documentation as assigned.
  • Attend and participate in staff, administrative, and committee meetings.
  • Exhibit effective communication skills.
  • Support additional projects as assigned.

Job Specifications Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3–5 years of woodworking and woodshop management experience
  • Experience teaching, mentoring, or facilitating youth projects
  • Experience developing, managing, and executing industrial arts or fabrication projects
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency with general office equipment
  • Strong time management and detail orientation
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to bend, lift, grasp, push/pull, and sit or stand for extended periods
  • Valid Texas driver’s license
  • Availability for travel as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in industrial or fine arts (metal forming, construction, graphic arts, ceramics, textiles, etc.)
  • Experience with or willingness to learn CNC equipment, graphic design tools, and 3D printing technologies
