Service Writer

Job Title: Service Writer (Internal Fleet)
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
Salary: $60,000 per year

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and communicative Service Writer to support our internal fleet operations on a temp-to-hire basis. This role will act as the liaison between company drivers and the shop, ensuring all trailer and equipment maintenance needs are clearly communicated and completed efficiently. This is not a customer-facing or billing role—all communication is internal.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the main point of contact for company drivers reporting trailer and equipment issues
• Gather and document repair and maintenance needs from drivers
• Create and manage internal work orders for the shop
• Communicate clearly with the Shop Foreman regarding required repairs and priorities
• Track status of repairs and provide updates to drivers and internal teams
• Coordinate scheduling to minimize equipment downtime
• Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
• Ensure timely completion of all maintenance and repair requests

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a Service Writer, Dispatcher, or Fleet Maintenance Coordinator role preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with drivers and shop personnel
• Basic knowledge of trailers, diesel equipment, or fleet maintenance (preferred)
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient with computers and service tracking systems
